About

Allied Certifications was established to support circumstances where newcomers can listen and learn from the People who belong to these lands, take responsibility for their complicity in colonial culture, and respectfully contribute to the resurgence of Indigenous Government and Stewardship.

Ancient societies, whose lineages of community care and whose intimate relationship to ecology are alive an thriving, are humanity’s wayfinders: capable of teaching the world to remember how to live within the constraints of Natural Law.

Settlers, untethered from their tribal, community-centred heritage, have a responsibility to learn to walk in Right Relationship with Indigenous Peoples. Without putting in the work of dismantling colonial culture and respecting Natural Law, there can be no resolution to the climate crisis and no social justice.

We build coalitions committed to co-creating an antiracist and decolonized future.

About our Logo:

The Allied Certifications logo integrates some of the symbolism and teachings from the ancient living traditions that have influenced our values. The colours are inspired by the Medicine Wheel, which portrays an ideal of balanced harmony between Peoples and the elements. The interweaving shapes are adapted from the Endless Knot (དཔལ་བེའུ།), a Himalayan Buddhist symbol representing the deep interrelationship, often unseen, between all beings. The teachings represented by the Endless Knot reflect the Nuučaan̓uł principle of hišuk nish ćawak (we are all connected), where Allied Certifications’ journey began. Drawing from these spiritual principles, our logo represents Allied Certifications’ commitment to strengthening relationships, cultivating gratitude and respect, and co-creating a decolonized and antiracist future.

Julian Hockin-Grant is a born and raised settler-Canadian mindful of his responsibility to earn his place in the decolonized Indigenous homelands where he was raised and feels connected.

Deeply grateful for an upbringing on unceded Wet’sewet’en and Qualicum territories, Julian is convinced that equity and social justice require self-decolonization.

Julian co-founded Allied Certifications with the aspiration of enabling Indigenous and Settler people alike to do the work of disrupting their own internalized colonial conditioning - establishing foundations for our children to build a truly decolonized future.

Pompie Pelkie is a new Canadian whose strong commitment to leading with compassion - rooted in her family’s Himalayan Buddhist tradition - permeates every aspect of her life. Pompie was born and raised in Bhutan, a small Indigenous Nation-state sandwiched between India and Tibet that has never been colonialized and which integrates traditional values throughout its unique governance style.

Combining her cultural conditioning with her Medical Anthropology training, Pompie provides the moral and ethical compass of the company. While Julian draws inspiration from his idealized vision for an emergent culture, Pompie draws on teachings from living cultural practice and tradition. With experience interacting with Canadians’ many subtle forms of racism, Pompie has a built-in bullshit detector that keeps us on course with our commitment to real change.
